Would you like to sell your work at Gemini Handmade?
Gemini Handmade does accept submissions of work from makers and artists who think their work may be a good fit at the shop. Over the years, Elyse + Jake have been pitched with a lot of different work from a ton of talented people, and have developed a few ground rules of how we curate work into the shop.
1) Would we wear it or have it in our home? This is the biggest question for us. Is it something we’d like to wear, own, and have at home? With that specific discernment, we both have a strong intuition as to what we like versus love. This is our top consideration in whether we decide to curate a makers’ work, and given that it’s the most subjective, is usually the toughest to explain- our shop is a very personal extension of our own taste and style.
2) Do we need more of that category of work in the shop? We have limited amounts of space for each type of thing, and sometimes, we just don’t need things in that category or medium.
3) Does the maker/artist have a distinct voice or brand? We are interested in working with artists + makers who take the love of their work to heart, just like we do. With that in mind, we look at social media presence, Websites/Etsy shops, and show/event presence when we’re considering whether to curate new work into the shop. Our audience is as interested in the makers behind the goods just as much as the goods themselves, so a functional website or Etsy shop and active social media, are important factors that allow us to best sell you and your work to our customers.
4) We only accept handmade and independent artists + makers. If you are selling MLM, direct-sales, or goods that you are not involved in the design + production for, then we are not the shop for you. Please do not apply.
With all this in mind, we gladly encourage you to apply to sell your work. We try to get back to as many artist inquiries as we can, within 2 weeks of submitting your work for consideration. If your work isn’t what we’re looking for or your business isn’t quite ready, don’t take it personally, and thanks for understanding the weird combo of logical and emotional processing that goes into our curation!
Please fill out the form below, and follow up with an email to geminihandmadegr (at) gmail.com with 2-4 images of your work for our consideration.
